Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a technology for the delivery of power and Ethernet data on the same cabling. PoE technology saves time and the cost of installing separate power cabling, ac outlets and wall warts, and eliminates the need for a dedicated uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for individual devices.
The power delivered over the Ethernet infrastructure is automatically activated when a compatible terminal is identified and blocked to non-compliant devices, such as desktop computers and laptops. This lets users freely and safely mix non-compliant and PoE-compatible devices on their network.
The POH-0850TX:
- Connects between any vendors ethernet switch and up to 8 PoE devices or PoE splitters
- Fully compliant with IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet Standard
- Remote power up to 100m through existing ethernet cable
With the use of Power over Ethernet Mid-span and Power over Ethernet Active Splitters, network apliance products can receive both data and power over a single Ethernet cable.
Power over Ethenet (PoE) products enable network cameras, video servers, wireless access points, print servers etc. to be installed in areas where traditional power cabling and outlets are unavailable or difficult to install. Power over Ethernet offers an easier, faster and more cost-effective solution than installing new power outlets and electrical cabling.
The LevelOne POH-0850TX Power over Ethernet Mids-pan hub is IEEE 802.3af compliant, which ensures compatibility with future power over Ethernet products.
When using Power over Ethernet Mid-span hubs together with uninterrupted power supply (UPS) devices, network devices can continue to operate even when there is a power failure.
