Q:What is IPP?
A:

IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) is a standards-based system to allow remote printing from a PC to any IP accessible printer.

The two main benefits of Internet Printing are
1) it simplifies PC setup for network printing on TCP/IP networks and
2) it allows printing across the internet.

How do I configure my PC to print via IPP?

Client PCs need a compatible IPP Client program. Windows 2000, XP and some implementations of the MAC OS and Linux include a suitable IPP client.

On a WinXP machine - select "Printers & Faxes", in "Printer Tasks" select "Add a printer" and check "Network Printer" "connect to a printer on the internet...", Type the IP in the URL line (i.e. http://192.168.1.77/ipp/) then system will search the printer on the network to setup IPP printer."
